Who can participate?
The competition is open to all businesses and organizations of all sizes within DP&L territory. Businesses and organizations outside this territory can participate but will not be eligible for awards at the end of the program (but will receive recognition through press releases).

How long will the competition take?
This is a one year program. Registration opens April 2015, contest starts August 2015 through August 2016.

Can businesses or property managers with multiple locations participate?
Yes. Each location will enroll separately.

Can I participate as both a building and a tenant?
As some property managers also manage an office within the building, we'd like to welcome you to participate as both a property manager and a tenant. You will receive recognition for both types of participation at the end of the program year.

Do I have to report on all primary areas (Energy, Water, Waste, and Employee Engagement)?
You decide how far you want to go, and what you want to report on. The more you report, the more you score. Choose what to track and watch your progress on the leaderboard.

How will you determine success and awards in the Competition?
Participants will be awarded based on both points earned and measured reductions in energy, water, waste, and employee engagement. Special Awards for implementing innovative strategies that will exhibit continued energy and environmental successes will be also given.

Will this require a lot of time from me?
We are dedicated to help you achieve your sustainability goals and make this as easy as possible. The web portal is designed with embedded sustainability calculators to enable you to quickly and easily report on your CO2 reduced, dollars saved, tons recycled, water conserved, kilowatts saved and cars removed from the road by simply entering a few fields. This will not take more than 20 minutes a month! Enjoy watching your progress on leaderboards and encourage your tenants and employees to help you achieve your goals.

How can I participate as a Tenant?
Even though you don’t have control over your building systems or even acces to utility bills as a tenant, you can still operate in a sustainable way as you encourage your employees to reduce their plug load and resources used. As a tenant you can join the contest as you and your employees join challenges and score points. At the end of the contest let us know the unique and fun sustainable practices your businesses implemented and get recognized and awarded for it.

How can I share my Portfolio Manager Account?
You can share your existing ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager® account with us through your Portfolio Manager profile. This allows us to easily extract information about your business relevant to the competition as well as update your energy usage information for you for the duration of the competition.
