ABOUT USDayton Regional Green 3 |
In the fall of 2007, Montgomery County Commissioners convened a forum of local citizens, government and business leaders to identify strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Montgomery County and the region. Many ideas were generated from the forum and as a result, the Dayton Regional Green 3 (DRG3) Task Force was created. From the initial formational meetings, the name Dayton Regional Green Task Force and the DRG3 label were developed in an effort to open the Task Force's efforts to include all of the Dayton Region and not limit it to Montgomery County. The Co-Chairs of the DRG3 Task Force were Michael Berning from Heapy Engineering and local developer Dave Williams. |
The DRG3 Task Force was divided into Three Workgroups: Residential, Business, and Government. Each Workgroup was charged with Three Focus Areas: Education, Policy and Economic Development. The Residential workgroup was chaired by Lance Oakes from CESO and Design Homes, the Business workgroup was chaired by Jack King, BuildingLogix (while with Elements 1V Interiors), and the Government workgroup was chaired by David Ricks, former Montgomery County Director of Public Works Department. The executive committee chaired by Michael Berning and Dave Williams was responsible to review all proposals and submittals from all focus groups.
One of the outcomes of the Business Workgroup was the development of the DRG3 Green Business Certification Program. This program is currently being administered through Montgomery County with assistance from the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce.
